Juan R. Alegret

Technology and Education passionate with 25 years’ experience in EdTech, supporting education institutions in their Digital Transformation journey.

With a background in Computer Science and he started his professional journey as product developer and later as a business development manager, having worked in various countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

With over 25 years of experience in the field of EdTech, Juan has developed a deep expertise in the intersection of education and technology. In 2004, he assumed the role of Senior Director for Education and Research at Sun Microsystems, responsible for the EMEA region. In 2011, he joined Microsoft as the Education Director for Spain, where he further contributed to advancing educational initiatives.

In 2015, Juan joined Blackboard (now Anthology) as a Senior Director for Business Development in EMEA, and in 2017, he was appointed as the Regional Vice President for Europe. His time at Blackboard provided him with invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Higher Education institutions.

Driven by a desire to make a greater impact, Juan decided to embark on a new journey. As the Founder and CEO of Academic Portals, he is dedicated to helping institutions unlock their siloed data, embrace digital transformation, and deliver enhanced educational experiences.
